Tommy Tuberville’s Cincinnati football program will have a new feeling this season, after completed renovations to Nippert Stadium will have the team playing in an actual home stadium on campus.
Home games will actually feel like home games for the first time in his third year as head coach. That could only be good news for a program that, despite having to play their 2014 home slate at Paul Brown Stadium due to the renovations, finished in a three-way tie for the AAC regular season crown a season ago. Having a quality roster, the Bearcats are definitely trending upwards, looking to become a regularly-ranked top-25 team.
With quarterback Gunner Kiel returning, remaining ranked throughout the season is a realistic possibility for the Bearcats. Kiel registered 3,254 passing yards last year, and also threw for 31 touchdowns compared to just 13 interceptions, providing much promise for Cincinnati heading into 2015.
It’s hard to find events for your alma mater’s sports teams that are more anticipated than introducing a new stadium, or at least a newly renovated one. Fans of the program can use Hipmunk.com to book flights to Cincinnati for any home game to check out the distinct changes. While there, enjoy a complete weekend on campus by reserving hotels in Cincinnati through Hipmunk as well. While planning the trip, tickets to Cincinnati football games are a part of the equation, so below are the three most expensive average ticket prices to Bearcats games on the secondary market, according to TiqIQ.com.
Most Expensive: 10/1/2015 | Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Miami Hurricanes | Nippert Stadium | Average Price: $170.50 | Get-in Price: $106
The Miami Hurricanes dealt one of the Bearcats’ four losses last season, when Cincinnati just didn’t show up defensively and gave up 55 points on the road. Cincinnati’s new digs will be on full display in this one as this year’s contest with Miami will be a primetime Thursday Night Football game on ESPN for the world to see.
11/7/2015 | Houston Cougars vs. Cincinnati Bearcats | TDECU Stadium | Average Price: $6149.08 | Get-in Price: $49
Speaking of new stadiums, the Cougars enjoyed their first season in TDECU Stadium, going 8-5 overall (5-3 conference record) and defeating Pittsburgh in the Armed Forces Bowl. Houston will have first-year head coach Tom Herman take over the program, after being part of the National Championship staff with Ohio State last season.
11/14/2015 | Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Tulsa Golden Hurricane | Nippert Stadium | Average Price: $89.59 | Get-in Price: $42
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane are starting fresh with former Baylor Bears offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery, as AAC teams throughout the conference are hoping he falters developing that type of potent offense. Tulsa was not good last season, but don’t be surprised if they’re involved in some shootouts during the upcoming campaign.
