Cincinnati: The 6th Highest Rated Market for ESPN College Hoops

Saw this little nugget in Richard Deitsch‘s big media post:

ESPN’s highest-rated TV markets for men’s hoops: 1. Louisville (which was the top for the 13th straight year); No. 2. Greensboro; No. 3. Raleigh-Durham; No. 4. Kansas City; No. 5. Columbus; No. 6 Cincinnati; No. 7 Dayton; No. 8 Indianapolis; No. 9 Charlotte; and No. 10 Memphis.

Cincinnati finishing so highly on the list is pretty great. The main thing that jumps out is that fans in the area support all of college basketball. Xavier played one game on ESPN the entirety of 2015. Cincinnati played every other game on ESPN. It’s not like this was just locally driven. Cincinnati is a melting pot of fans of other teams as well. Regional programs like Kentucky, Ohio State, Louisville, IU, they play all their games on ESPN.

Louisville, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Indianapolis being in the top 10 show just how hoops crazy this area is. And I, for one, love it.
