Clay Buchholz Traded To Phillies For Minor Leaguer

wh-double-facepalm

To the delight of most Sox fans, it is about time. Clay Buchholz is no longer a Boston Red Sox as Wheelin’ Dealin’ Dave Dombrowski has done it again. The Red Sox in return will get Phillies minor leaguer Josh Tobias who plays second base. To me, it did not matter who we got in return all that mattered is that Buchholz is gone and our pitching rotation can yet again start to have some consistency.

Buchholz, 32, has pitched in 206 games (188 starts) in his career, all with the Red Sox. He owns an 81-61 record to go with a 3.96 ERA. With the acquisition of Chirs Sale, you had to know something was coming and the Buchholz was on the chopping block. As he was the most frustrated pitcher to watch on the Red Sox.

Just let that sink in for a little, Clay Buchholz has been talked up so much and people have said how good he really is but then we trade him for a minor leaguer and that is it. On top of that, Josh Tobias is not even a top 30 prospect in the minor league. To me, it just seemed like Dombrowski wanted him out and he did it. The Red Sox have thrown him down our throats for the past years saying he will be healthy and better than ever. But it never happened.

The Phillies will now assume Buchholz’s 1-year, $13.5 million deal and they can have him I don’t want to be paying that prices with others like Chirs Sale, David Price, Rick Porcello, Drew Pomeranz, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Steven Wright on your rotation. This move has moved the Red Sox on as they were to attached to Buchholz and tried too hard to make him the face of the organization.

We can all now move on from the frustration of watching Buchholz pitch as this move no doubt has made the Red Sox a better team. Needless to say, I am very excited for Spring
