Cleveland Browns: Does Trade Deadline send Gordon and Cameron packing?

.

The NFL trade deadline is today at 4 PM. The Cleveland Browns have two intriguing names that other teams would love to have on their roster. Second year receiver, Josh Gordon and fourth year tight end, Jordan Cameron are on the trade block. Are they not?

The problem with all the media rumors is that is just what they are – unverified and “stir the pot” rumors. Also, there is a difference between answering the phone and listening to offers and actually seeking a trade. Unless the Browns netted a low first round pick for Gordon, a trade of the team’s best player is absurd. Despite missing the first two games, Gordon has 32 receptions for 582 yards and three touchdowns. The guy looks like a gazelle when he’s flying across the field and is only 22-years-old. The Browns finally have a true game changing receiver. Call this crazy, but at 3-5, the Browns could still make a run at a wild card spot in the weak, AFC playoff picture.

With 49 receptions on the year, Cameron leads all tight ends. Cameron ranks 2nd in yards (596), 2nd in yards/game (74.5), fourth in touchdowns (6), and 3rd in 20+ yard catches (7). Trading Cameron would also be one of the worst moves the team could make. The 25-year-old is a perfect building block as the team moves forward.

Now with Jason Campbell signal calling, the Browns have a legitimate chance in the next eight games. If Cleveland deals their two best players, it would solidify the “tank job” that was questioned earlier in the season. Even if the Browns don’t get a wild card spot, would a seven or eight win season be a success under this year’s circumstances?
