Tuesday night, you probably thought that Cliff Lee would get his first win this season, but it was not meant to be again. Even though Lee pitched 7.2 innings and struck out 12 Dodgers batters, the Phillies still found a way to lose. The Phillies loss to the Dodgers 2-1; the Phillies have lost four straight games and two games so far in this current series.
Neither of these teams’ offenses could not get going; as the Phillies got their only run of the game in the first inning on a Hunter Pence single. For the Dodgers, they got their two runs in the eighth inning as Elian Herrera drove a Cliff Lee pitch to left field and Juan Pierre could not make the catch, coming into score was Bobby Abreu and Dee Gordon.
Finally, the Phillies had one more chance in the ninth inning but it was squandered as Freddy Galvis, who went 0 for 4, struck out to end the game with John Mayberry Jr. left stranded on first base. Tonight, the Phillies will be looking to snap their four game losing streak as Kyle Kendrick (2-4, 4.02 ERA) will be on the mound and on the mound for the Dodgers it will be Chris Capuano (7-2, 2.50 ERA).
