“I’d probably be coaching if (the NFL) hadn’t worked out,” he said. “High school or college. I just have a knack for it.”
Powers earned a degree in public administration at Auburn, and at one point thought it might lead to a career in politics.
“I didn’t get a degree to be a coach,” he said. “I wanted to do something on the politics side . . . run for governor or mayor. I knew with me being an athlete, I could have gotten a lot of support from my hometown.
