Colorado Avalanche starting goaltended Semyon Varlamov has been arrested on on 2nd degree kidnapping and 3rd degree assault charges according to the Denver Police Department.
Varlamov so far this season has gone 7-1 with the NHL’s fourth best save percentage at .945 only allowing an average of 1.76 goals against which is fifth in the league.
The Avalanche have released the following statement
“The Colorado Avalanche organization is aware of the allegations concerning Semyon Varlamov. At this time, and until the conclusion of this investigation, the Avalanche organization will have no further comment on this situation,” the team said in a statement.
The news broke late Wednesday evening when it was reported Varlamov turned himself into the police when Denver Post journalist Ryan Parker first reported the story.

Varlamov will not be able to post bail due to the assault charges. The felony kidnapping charge that Varlamov has been charged with is a class 4 which means someone was taken without their consent. Guilty charge carries 2-6 years in prison.
