Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Colts have placed John Gill on the non-football illness list. The best I can gather, this is the same as the non-football injury list used for Plaxico Burress when he had his little shooting incident.
If this is true, Gill’s season is officially over, and the Colts have an option to not pay him. There has been no indication that the Colts will go this route.
Gill’s status change coincides with the Colts move to sign James Williams, an undrafted free agent offensive tackle who previously signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Williams fits right in with the Colts emphasis on intelligence for offensive linemen, as he graduated from Harvard.
