For viewers of FSN New England, they’ll notice a new brand, new logo and new programming beginning today. Comcast purchased two FSN regional sports networks from Cablevision earlier this year, FSN New England and FSN Bay Area. For the New England channel, there will be more local programming and an increased commitment to the Boston Celtics.

BURLINGTON, MA – On Monday, October 1, FSN New England will rebrand to Comcast SportsNet and begin providing expanded coverage of the Boston Celtics and the entire New England sports scene.
Comcast SportsNet will maintain the same distribution as FSN New England, which reaches 3.7 million cable and satellite households in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. In addition to season-long Boston Celtics coverage, Comcast SportsNet remains the home for local sports programming such as Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight and Twin River New England Tailgate. Comcast SportsNet will also offer unique network programming such as Net Impact, Fantasy Fix, and Pro Football Now that is featured across all 11 networks operated by Comcast SportsNet.
Comcast SportsNet debuts with extended Boston Celtics game-day programming, expanded in-game courtside coverage and new Celtics related programming. Highlights of Comcast SportsNet’s expanded Celtics coverage include:
· 27th season of Mike Gorman (play-by-play) and Tommy Heinsohn (color analyst)
· 30-minute GMC Truck Celtics Pre-Game Live before every Celtics game, including weekend telecasts
· All new 30-minute New England Ford Dealers Celtics Post Game Live immediately after every game, including weekend telecasts
· In-game courtside reporting by Greg Dickerson during every home and away telecast
· All new weekly Celtics magazine premiering Tuesday, November 6 and airing every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Comcast SportsNet’s coverage of the 2007-08 season begins when the Boston Celtics venture to Europe for preseason contests against the Toronto Raptors in Rome on October 6, and the Minnesota Timberwolves from London on October 10. Comcast SportsNet’s regular season slate features 79 games (63 exclusive telecasts), including 39 home game telecasts in high definition.
