The U.S. Men’s National Team was down 2-0 at half time to upstart Slovenia. After goals from Landon Donovan and Michael Bradley to tie, the Americans had just under 10 minutes to score a third goal to cap off a comeback for the ages. They got that goal from Maurice Edu.
Unfortunately, referee Koman Coulibaly prepared for the World Cup by watching all the Jim Joyce footage he could find. Coulibaly inexplicably called something (a foul? offsides?) to disallow the goal. No one but Coulibaly and the man upstairs know what exactly he saw, but its unfortunate that his hallucinations cost the U.S. a well-earned victory.
