Congratulations goes out to the 1960 National Champs as they move on in the BBC All-Time Tourney having defeated the 1987 squad. The Lucas and Havlicek led squad had little resistance from the Hopson team of the late 80’s and as expected will move on to face the #5 seed All-Ohio squad from 2011.
Both match-ups bring some great mythical basketball to the forefront. Only the All-Ohio Squad from a year ago was able to advance as the lower seed throughout the tournament. They will take on the best team in school history in the semis. We’ll see Ohio State’s best player in history, against arguable it’s best “team.” Watching Jared Sullinger battle with Lucas in reality would be a dream come true. We saw the freshman take over the country, but did he have to post up against someone with as much talent as Jerry?
How about David Lighty and John Havlicek? This would more than likely be the key match-up of the game. If David Lightly could hold the Boston Celtic hall-of-famer in check, we would have one heck of a ballgame.
On the other Semi, Oden and Conley will take on the likes of Jim Jackson and Lawrence Funderburke. Man this is going to be a fun match-up to assess. Inside and outside game from both teams, with Jim Jackson and Greg Oden both putting on shows and leaving it all on the court.
As we head into the Big Ten Tournament, we’ll take a break from our mythical tourney. We’ll be back with the semis shortly! Stay tuned for the latest in the tBBC All-Time Tourney!
