Connor Halliday’s football career ends with Redskins

Before former Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday‘s NFL career could begin, it ended today as he was not listed as participating in the Washington Redskins’ rookie minicamp. According to John Keim of ESPN.com, Halliday was removed from the 90-man roster as his football days are over.

This is shocking news as Redskins General Manager Scot McCloughan had interest in the quarterback during the pre-draft process. Washington was still willing to give him a shot as last season he suffered a broken leg on Nov. 1 ending his season and career at Washington State.

With him still recovering from injury, the Redskins still had interest as they attended his pro-draft and brought him for a visit before ultimately signing him as an undrafted free agent.

Over his four-year career at Washington State, Halliday thrived under head coach Mike Leach for three of those years. 2013 was his best season as he threw for 4,597 yards, 34 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.

With Halliday not participating in the rookie minicamp, the Redskins invited two more quarterbacks Georgia’s Huston Mason and ex-USC walk-on Anthony Neyer in for a tryout.
