Connor Udelhoven to Badger football 2013

We are hitting a milestone today as it's just 60 days till the start of the Gary Andersen era at Wisconsin! For us that means another name on our countdown and today we'll celebrate the unceremonious job of a long snapper.

That's right, you saw that correctly as today it's just Connor Udelhoven till Badger football kick-off!! I know, you're probably asking who and for good reason. Udelhoven is a redshirt freshman long snapper who has never played a down of football for the Badgers. The St. Paul, Minnesota native came to Wisconsin rated as a five start snapper according to Kohl's Professional Camps, who keep track of that kind of thing.

Udelhoven will have to wait his turn, something he's likely used to after following in the footsteps of current UW long snapper James McGuire at Cretin-Derham Hill in St. Paul.

History of No. 60 at Wisconsin:

Darryl Sims (DT, 1980-82,84): For you younger folks in the crowd there was actually life before Barry Alvarez in this program and Sims is living proof of that as he was a three time All-Big Ten selection. He led the conference in tackles for loss in 1982 with 22 and sits 10th all-time in tackles for loss at Wisconsin with 39 for his career. He is also tied for 8th in career sacks in a Badgers uniform with 17. Sims went on to play four seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1985.

Bill Ferrario (OL, 1997-2000): Ferrario was a rock on the O-Line, never missing a single game in his four years at Wisconsin and totaling 50 starts – just the 3rd player in Big Ten history to do that at the time. He was a starter on both the 1999 and 2000 Rose Bowl teams and was a two time 2nd team All-Big Ten pick. Ferrario would be picked by the Green Bay Packers in the 4th round of the 2001 NFL Draft and played a total of four seasons before retiring in 2005. Ferrario has been a guest on our Badgers Power Hour on a number of occasions and we look forward to his insight into the games this upcoming season as well.
