Happy Day before the 4th of July to you and yours!
If you are currently sitting in front of your computer reading this, I am out on Camaloch pounding Bud Lights! In fact, I am probably in the midst of a Triple Bogey, somewhere around the 7th Hole. It’s alright, I am with my boys Lyle and Doofer and soon we will be back at the cabin pulling up our bounty of Dungeness Crab and blowing stuff up. Continue reading about our upcoming contest!
A special thanks to Sean who just completed a dozen, grueling Spring Fish Wraps, which preview all of the 2010 WSU opponents. This can’t be as fun as the majority of the stuff we write, but it’s a fantastic way to keep tabs on the enemy. Check back come Gameday in the fall. Hopefully Sean is enjoying his time off over in Priest Lake.
We were recently contacted by Blue Ribbon Yearbook and were given two copies of their pre-season publication. Blue Ribbon really isn’t a “preseason magazine,” so much as a “preseason book.” It’s roughly twice as big as the other preseason magazines, and costs about three times as much. 2010 marks the tenth issue of their college football preview, though it was not produced in 2003. The per-team coverage is incredibly detailed, with about four pages’ coverage for most I-A teams, and does include the results of spring football. College coaches use it for scouting. Television commentators and behind-the-scenes personnel use it for game coverage preparation, as do radio play-by-play announcers, while NFL scouts use it to identify key players.
Not to be greedy, we thought it would be fun to share a copy with one of our readers. So we devised a simple contest. Over the next to weeks, email us your best Cougar Football Saturday story to [email protected]. This could be the best gameday experience (maybe you had a sideline pass, or shared the game with a loved one), or the craziest tailgate or pre-funk you attended, or maybe you actually played for the Cougs and can share what a CFS is like for those who get to run out of the tunnel at Martin Stadium.
After we have reviewed all of the submissions, we will select our favorite three. From there we will share them on the blog and create a poll for readers to select the best story. Pictures are not only recommended but highly encouraged!
Hope all is well, have a Happy 4th of July!
Good luck!
