WHAT THEY’RE SAYING ON TWITTER:
If I had a Hall of Fame ballot, Mike Sweeney would be guaranteed at least one vote, because dammit, HUGS MATTER.

Mike Sweeney is on the Hall of Fame ballot!!! Can I have a vote?

HOVG THOUGHTS: Looking back at Sweeney’s numbers, the former Royals captain had a far better career than I had remembered. Unfortunately, he would’ve had to have done twice as much in those 16 years to garner any sort of Hall of Fame consideration.
