2010 Bucs Lookback- Lynch, Corey

Did you ever think  when you were watching John Lynch play that one day he would call a Bucs game and call a Bucs Interception return for a TD by another Lynch? This time it was Corey Lynch, who started the season as the 4th string safety yet ended up as the starter after Tanard Jackson went out with a Suspension and his replacement Cody Grimm went down with an injury. Sabby Piscitelli who was fighting out for the No.1 spot was let go because Grimm and Lynch are so good.

Lynch went to school at Appalachian State during their incredible run of ’05-’07 and upset over Michigan. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008 during the 6th round, and got his first interception off of the Jets’ Brett Favre. He found his way to the Bucs via the Mark Dominik Practice Squad program, where he found Lynch and put him on the Bucs practice squad in September of 2009.

Lynch has the nickname HBO for his ‘Hard Knocks’ experience. He is projected to be a backup at Safety, however he now has enough experience that the drop if he had to start would not be that great. He would start on most teams, a sign of how deep the Bucs secondary is.
