I know most Cougs are still deliriously happy after the big hoops win on Sunday night, but life goes on in the recruiting world. And whaddaya know, the Cougs got some good news today per Cougfan, as Sacramento middle linebacker Darryl Paulo has committed to WSU!
Paulo fits the slugger-middle linebacker type, standing 6-3, weighing 240 pounds and packs a punch in the middle. He logged 150 tackles in 2010, a team high on a very good Grant High School defense. While not real speedy (reported 4.8 40-time), he does look like he has a good nose for the football. Check out his ESPN video highlights here, and you’ll see what I mean.
But who knows what the future may bring in terms of his position on the next level. With the 40-time, and the fact he’s already up to 240 pounds, maybe he’ll end up as a defensive end with another 20 pounds added to his frame? Paul Wulff and the rest of the staff have said from day one that one of the things they look for in high school talent is do they have the right kind of weight, or do they have a really good frame that could handle the added bulk that will surely happen once they become a regular in the program? But no matter what, adding a good-looking linebacker to this class is a very good thing!
All for now. GO COUGS!
