As we continue our countdown, let’s look at the number 89 –
On February 5, 1989 at the age of 51 the Gamecocks lost their Head Football Coach to heart failure. Joe Morrison’s traditions live on at USC as he is one of the better coaches USC has had in its football history. He coached great players like Sterling Sharpe and Robert Brooks just to name two. Also did you know that Charlie Weis got his first coaching job in college as a assistant under Morrison? Joe is and will always be a USC icon.
Current Gamecocks football player Mike Triglia wears number 89. He is a back-up TE and special teams player.
