Court Dismisses Road Rage Charge Against Albert Haynesworth

Albert HaynesworthVirginia prosecutors dropped assault charges against Washington Redskins DL Albert Haynesworth today after the alleged victim in the case, Arthur Velasquez, declined to pursue the case. Numerous news sources say that Haynesworth settled out-of-court with Velasquez.

Velasquez alleged that Haynesworth punched him in January 2011 when he flipped the bird to Haynesworth who he thought was following him too closely in traffic near Reston, Virginia.

Haynesworth still faces a charge of inappropriate touching of a waitress at the tony W Hotel restaurant in the District of Columbia.

I’m not predicting a similar outcome, but it would not surprise me.

Haynesworth did not participate in the player-organized team activity last week. Everyone expects the Redskins to drop him when offseason activity resumes. Head Coach Mike Shanahan has said everything but that. The players did not make the “Haynesworth conditioning drill” part of their informal workout.

Since no one is doing offseason workouts at the team facility at Redskins Park, I’m curious to know if the players will have to pass the conditioning drill this season.
