The Sacramento Kings defeated the Warriors 109-106 in an overtime thriller at the Golden 1 Center. With this win, the Kings snapped a three game losing streak and a 13-game losing streak to the Warriors.
“Big win,” DeMarcus Cousins said. “It shows this team has a lot of character, a lot of fight. Especially coming off the loss we had last night. A complete team effort. I think this was our most complete game of the season.”
In this game, the Kings were led by Cousins, who scored 32 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists making him the Reno Dodge Power Performer.
The Kings had arguably their most efficient game offensively as they had six players score more than 10 points (Willie Cauley-Stein, Matt Barnes, Anthony Tolliver, Darren Collison, Cousins, and Ben McLemore).
These guys did a phenomenal job in creating ways for Cousins to go out and make plays offensively. With the nine assists that he had, portions of them were to these players. Speaking of Tolliver, he also had a pivotal moment on defense as he nearly blocked a game tying layup from Stephen Curry:
Golden State is constantly scrutinized of their size down low, and that is where Cousins made amends meet Saturday night. The Warriors clearly had no answer, and Cousins took it to the teeth of the defense from the start. His points ranged from the mid range area to the paint area.
The Warriors did whatever they could to take this away, in fact, they went to Draymond Green late in the game to guard Cousins, but that didn’t go so well. Check out this sick move:
With a win like this, momentum has officially shifted to the side of the Kings, as they now battle for a playoff spot. They are now just three games behind the Nuggets for the eighth seed.
The Kings will remain at home to take on the Bulls Monday night and look to tie the season series.
