The Sacramento Kings have quit leaking information cold turkey, but leaking information won’t quit the Sacramento Kings.
After a quiet day in the capital city, the twitter world has been set ablaze once again. The latest and greatest on the DeMarcus Cousins front is that there is a “framework” of a deal for the Kings starting center that involves the Lakers, Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle and the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, as well as other draft considerations. Carl Landry’s remaining $13 million may be part of the deal as well according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal in question has the Lakers balking at the asking price for the 24-year-old All-Star big man with three years remaining on his contract. But according to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Kings continue to show no interest in moving Cousins, and would certainly not entertain the deal in question.
This is draft season in a nutshell. Draft picks are worth substantially more the day before the draft than they are the day after. Teams trying to pry Cousins away from Sacramento are playing hardball with Kings new front man Vlade Divac and agents are working overtime.
Divac has remained resolute in his intentions of focusing on the draft and keeping Cousins in the fold.
That’s not to say that Cousins won’t be dealt by draft time tomorrow. But the Kings would have to receive a no-brainer of an offer that would both improve the team and calm a fan base that has been on the edge of its seat since the December firing of Michael Malone.
Meanwhile, Cousins is tweeting that he would like to stay in Sacramento while on vacation in Cabo.
