The Sacramento Kings have officially ruled DeMarcus Cousins out for tonight’s action against the Phoenix Suns. Here is the official press release:
SACRAMENTO, CA, February 13, 2011 — Sacramento Kings rookie forward/center DeMarcus Cousins will not play in tonight’s game at Phoenix while the organization reviews the situation that occurred in the locker room following last night’s game versus Oklahoma City.
The reports have been flowing in all day as to what really happened last night. It appears that maybe even the Kings aren’t quite sure who said what or who did what. Team President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie flew back to Sacramento today to investigate the situation. By reading the press release, it appears that Cousins has not been suspended, just held out of game pending review of the facts.
After tonight, the Kings move on to play back to back games in Oklahoma City and Dallas. The Kings took both teams to the brink this week and with Cousins penchant for improvement the second time around, it would be nice to see him in uniform against both of these clubs.
