First, John Henson, now, Tyler Zeller as the North Carolina big man tour continues in Sacramento.  With a shortened-draft season, it appears the Kings are getting a good look at any and every power forward or center they can get.  While the headliners are few, the team is also taking a good look at some second-round depth.

Guards/Wings

William Buford – Ohio State

If anything can be said about Buford, it’s that he was consistent throughout his four-year college career.  The Buckeyes shooting guard finished with scoring averages of 14.4, 14.4 and 14.5 over his final three seasons.  Like South Dakota’s Charlie Westbrook, Buford can hit the long ball. He had an outstanding junior season where he hit 44-percent of his 3-point attempts.  Draft Express tabs him as the 52nd best prospect in the 2012 NBA Draft and predicts a late second-round phone call.

Measurements:

  • Height:  6′-4″ w/o shoes, 6′-5″ w/shoes
  • Weight:  215-pounds, 11.3% body fat
  • Wingspan:  6′-9.5″

Lazeric Jones – UCLA

Jones played well in his final season at UCLA, averaging 13.5 points and four assists per contest.  For his height, he has a tremendous 6’7″ wingspan and a robust 1.8 steal per game average to go along with the length.  Similar to the other guards the Kings have brought to town, Jones can shoot from the perimeter, finishing a tad under 38-percent from distance last season.  Jones is not among Draft Express’ top 100 prospects.

Measurements:

  • Height:  5′-11.5″ w/o shoes
  • Weight:  195-pounds
  • Wingspan:  6′-7.25″

Testing:

  • Vertical:  29″ no step vert
  • Agility Drills: Lane agility- 10.85 seconds; 3/4 court sprint- 3.22 seconds

Wendell McKines – New Mexico State

McKines looks a little out of place in this group of guards and big men.  The 6’6″, 240 lbs. wing finished his final college season with a bang, averaging 18.7 points and 10.7 rebounds for the Aggies.  I’m not sure who is going to guard this kid, but he should attempt to take advantage of this undersized group.  McKines is not in the Draft Express top 100.

Measurements:

  • Height:  6′-4.25″ w/o shoes
  • Weight:  240-pounds
  • Wingspan:  6′-8.75″

Testing:

  • Vertical:  30.0″ no step vert
  • Agility Drills: Lane agility- 12.46 seconds; 3/4 court sprint- 3.49 seconds

Charlie Westbrook – South Dakota

Westbrook is back for a second day of workouts. He led the 10-18 South Dakota Coyotes in scoring with 18.4 points on 46.4 percent shooting and a healthy 38.9 percent from 3-point range.  The senior guard added four rebounds, 1.7 steals and nearly a block a game in his senior season.  Westbrook is listed as prospect No. 89 out of 100 on Draft Express’ big board.

Measurements:

  • Height:  6′-2.5″ w/o shoes
  • Weight:  196-pounds
  • Wingspan:  6′-6.5″

Testing:

  • Vertical:  31.0″ no step vert
  • Agility Drills: Lane agility- 11.08 seconds; 3/4 court sprint- 3.32 seconds

Power Forward/Center

JaMychal Green – Alabama

Green is long and athletic with a huge wingspan and solid college numbers.  As a senior, he averaged 14 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for Alabama, but he is going to have his hands full with Zeller.  Green is considered a mid second-round pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

Measurements:

  • Height:  6′-7.5″ w/o shoes
  • Weight:  217-pounds
  • Wingspan:  7′-2.5″

Testing:

  • Vertical: 31.0″ no step vert
  • Agility Drills: Lane agility- 10.83 seconds; 3/4 court sprint- 3.29 seconds

Tyler Zeller – North Carolina

Zeller is a quality, all-around big man with good size and great production to match. In his senior season at UNC, Zeller played 28 minutes a game and averaged 16.3 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. His final NCAA tournament appearance was highlighted by an incredible 20 point, 22 rebound, four block performance against Ohio State.  Zeller is ranked No. 12 in the Draft Express top 100 and is considered a late lottery pick.

Measurements:

  • Height:  6′-11.25″ w/o shoes; 7′-0.5″ w/ shoes.
  • Weight:  247-pounds; 6.4% body fat.
  • Wingspan:  7′-0″
  • Standing Reach:  8′-8″

The Kings continue the pre-draft process with individual workouts with Damian Lillard of Weber State tomorrow and Andre Drummond of UConn on Thursday.
