With the exception of his first and last contests, Thomas Robinson struggled most of Summer League. We noted how personal he takes losing and playing poorly. Smart discusses the rookie forward’s perfectionism on this week’s episode:
Well, what you find is guys who played in big time, winning programs have a passion for winning. And it’s an adjustment period for those guys when they come into a new situation, top lottery pick. Pretty much as a top lottery pick, you’re coming to a team that hasn’t done well. So that passion that he has, you gotta keep that. Then he’ll learn as he goes through the season how to start managing that – “Hey, I’ve gotta focus on what I did wrong in this game and what I did well and then I gotta make the adjustments because I have another game coming up.”
Editor’s Note: This podcast was recorded before the Kings’ final summer league game against the Boston Celtics.
