If Gary Gerould and Grant Napear are the voices of the Sacramento Kings then Scott Moak is the voice of Sleep Train Arena.  Moak has served as the Kings’ public address announcer for the last 11 seasons.  Before the relocation saga wrapped up, James Ham caught up with the stadium’s familiar voice before one of the Kings’ final home games last month.

Excerpt

Moak on the glory years of the Kings and what it felt like to be inside the old ARCO Arena

It had a heartbeat of its own.  From the moment people walked into the building to the final buzzer, it was alive.  And hard to explain.  I find myself talking to people about those times – 2003, four, five and six – and it’s sometimes hard to find the exact words that describe what it was like.  And I think for those people who didn’t get to experience that, man I want them to taste that so badly here because there’s very few things that feel as special as that.
