The Cowboys have gained $5 million in cap relief from the June 1st designation of Miles Austin. The Cowboys now have close to $10 million in total space; however, that money will be delved out to 1st round pick Zack Martin and 2nd rounder DeMarcus Lawrence, along with money to sign other potential free agents and settlement agreements. Look for talks to potentially heat up for Dez Bryant and Tyron Smith as well.
Martin will get a 4-year deal with the 5th year option. The 5th year option is only applicable to players drafted in the 1st round. That is great news for the offensive line because we now have 3 premier offensive lineman in which we can pick up their 5th year option. Tyron Smith Travis Frederick will be Cowboys along with Martin for a long time. Solid.
Lawrence will get the standard 4-year deal, so if he plays how we hope he’ll play then we’ll lock him up in a few years before he ever hits free agency.
