COWBOYS-GIANTS GAME GIVES NFL ON FOX WEEK’S NO. 1 SHOW…AGAIN
Season-to-Date Audience Up +16%
Sunday’s NFL on FOX National Game, lead by the New York Giants upset over the Dallas Cowboys, posted a sensational 16.6/29 average household audience/share, with 27.8 million viewers, according to national figures released today by Nielsen Media Research. The game easily ranks as the highest-rated and most-watched broadcast of the week in all of television in households, across all key male and adult demos and placed among the top three across key women demographics. This marks the seventh time in seven tries that FOX’s National Game has been the highest-rated and most-watched telecast of its week this season, and through Week 13 the five most-watched Sunday games on all networks have all been on FOX.
The rating for the NFL on FOX Week 13 National game is up +8% over last year’s comparable Week 13 National Game on CBS (15.4/27) and up +9% in audience (25.5 million). Sunday’s 16.6/29 marks the fourth time this year a FOX game has exceeded the 15.0 household rating nationally, the first time ever FOX has had four such games in a single season.
Through seven broadcasts this season, the NFL on FOX National Game is averaging an outstanding 15.6/29 and 26.2 million viewers, up +12% and 16%, respectively, over last year’s 13.9/27 (22.5 million viewers), +21% and +22%, respectively, compared to CBS’s National Game (12.9/25, 21.4 mill) and +31% and 34%, respectively, compared to NBC’s SNF (11.9/19, 19.6 mill). The NFL on FOX National Game ranks as the No. 1 program in all of television across all key male and adult demographics.
The NFL continues to ride a huge ratings wave to victory this season.
