Cowboys Offensive Line Mauls Titans in 26-10 Victory

Boy we needed this sort of win! The Cowboys came into this game with a lot of questions after an abysmal performance against the 49ers. We all heard the talk about wanting to run more, and the Cowboys were able to accomplish this in a mauling performance by the offensive line.

The Cowboys owned the time of possession and DeMarco Murray obliterated the Titans defensive line. I’m not bringing out the anointing oil on the offensive line, but those three first round picks for the offensive line looked the part today. Very solid performance in the running game. The Cowboys ran for a total of 220 yards. Murray accounted for 167 yards.

Statistically speaking the passing game was okay, the line did give up 4 sacks however, so that’s an area the line needs to fix.

Here are my takes on the game today:

  • We evaded the dreadful 0-2 start, it looked a little hairy in our first drives, but they settled in and pulled it off.

  • Tony Romo’s inaccuracy is physical and not mental, its not rust either. Romo looked akward coming out from the center, and slow to hand the ball off. Gone are his ability to evade defenders and keep plays alive like we’re accustomed to. I know he had a good QB rating, but he’s not himself right now. I would not be surprised if it comes out that Romo is getting injections to his back to fend off stiffness or something.

  • Signing Dan Bailey to an extension this past offseason was very smart, he’s automatic.

  • Roland0 McClain is coming into his own, and looks like the player coming out of Alabama in the 2010 draft. He’s looking good.

  • Time of possession was an incredible 41:11 vs 18:49 – wow. The success in the trenches reflected this. Not only did the offensive line do their thing, but this also shows the Cowboys ability to shutdown the Titans running game, which was just 82 total yards. Nice job defense.

  • We’re seeing the difference on defense between Marinelli and Kiffin. Marinelli has improved the defense this year. Let’s keep the upward tick.

The Cowboys head to St. Louis next week. If the defense shows up again, we could feast on the Rams’ QB struggles.
