Cowboys Select Demarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State #34

The Cowboys stuck by their board in the 1st round, but things fell different for the Cowboys in the 2nd round and they decided to trade up for Demarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State.  The Cowboys traded their 2nd round and 3rd round. Lawrence walks on the field and becomes the new face of the Cowboys defense. I had Lawrence as my trade down pick in my last mock draft, so I love this pick.

It’s no secret the Cowboys love the Boise State program, and have had some success with Orlando Scandrick. Tyrone Crawford is expected to be an impact player after returning from his achilles injury. The Cowboys go to the well again and get Defensive Coordinator Rod Marinelli a pass rushing play maker. He has all the prototypical physical attributes. He was one of the faster DE’s at the combine and has long arms, an attribute that will serve him well.

Time to go after the NFC East, here we come. We are not done working on the defense, but this is a cornerstone selection. Good job Cowboys, real good!

Check out some of Lawrence’s game footage here.

And now, the rookie card. Beautiful! Let’s go Dallas!!
