Cowboys Win 19-16 and Still Kicking

The NFC East is so awful this year that the 3-8 Cowboys, now 4-8 are still in the hunt for the division title — amazing. Whether or not the Cowboys victory will just delay the inevitable or not will be determined next week on the road in Green Bay.

Tonight’s victory over the Redskins is an instant class, it was full of clutch plays, but a lot of bad football in between.

Usually when you turn the ball over you lose in this league, and even with three tonight, the Cowboys were able to pull out the huge win.

To me, the biggest play in the game was the DeSean Jackson turnover, it was something the Cowboys have failed to get most of the season and tonight it was the determining factor.

The Cowboys live to fight another day, but we could easily come back to earth in Green Bay next week. If the Cowboys want to keep winning they need to quit turning the ball over.

Here are my takes on the game:

Doug Free has lost it. He looks slow and is becoming more of a liability as each game passes.

Lucky Whitehead had a nice game today, probably his best to date. He actually looked like a return guy I can get excited about.

Jason Witten caught his 1,000th career catch, becoming only the second tight end in history to catch 1000 passes. One of the remaining Parcells guys is still as solid as ever and tough as ever. Hell of a game from Witt today.

— Darren McFadden is out of gas, and the fumbles were costly. Running back needs to be addressed in the offseason. Get me Lamar Miller or draft someone. We’re basically using backup-RB-by-committe this year and it sucks.

Matt Cassel looked his most comfortable with the deeper passes today, and gives me a slight glimmer of hope with the remaining games.

Dez Bryant is back! or pretty damn close to it. He made some signature catches tonight, and we haven’t seen that explosive big-play ability since last season. A healthier Bryant is just what the doctor ordered at the right time of the year.

Demarcus Lawrence came alive today with two early sacks and busted plays in the backfield.

Sean Lee was insane tonight. He was in vintage form, and all over the field.

Dan Bailey was clutch tonight with 4 field goals, 2 of which were from distance. This is why you pay him that high 7yr deal and big part of why we’re “still kicking” — literally.

What did you think of tonights game? Are we back in the hunt or are we still going to have a bad record? Sound of in the comments!

Enjoy the win everybody!
