Crossfit Powering Through Oregon

crossfitHave you seen a Crossfit studio in your neighborhood?

If not, you might soon.

Cross fit is the hottest new fitness addition to local gyms and businesses. It was originally founded in 2000 by Greg Glassman. Workouts are typically short—20 minutes or less—and intense, demanding all-out physical exertion.

They combine movements such as sprinting, rowing, jumping rope, climbing rope, weightlifting, and carrying odd objects. They use barbells, dumbbells, gymnastics rings, pull-up bars, kettle bells, medicine balls, and many bodyweight exercises. These elements are mixed in numerous combinations to form prescribed “Workouts of the Day” or “WODs”.

Most Crossfit instruction is done in a group setting, which helps to generate motivation and positive competiveness. Both can be helpful in any strenuous work out.

Cross fit is not for the faint of heart. It is a very serious, intense work out, often too rigorous for beginners. Some gyms offer beginners programs to introduce you to the routine.

Make sure the instructors are certified before you sign up. Not having someone highly trainer might lead to injury.

Cross fit is great way to shake up your current work out or begin a new one. Always seek the advice of a medical professional before beginning any new exercise program.
