Dale Sveum had a second interview with the Red Sox today but the owners were noncommittal in their report to the media after the meeting. Theo Epstein also wants Sveum to manage the Cubs and since Sveum has a home in Arizona where the Cubs train during the spring he may have the upper hand. If the Sveum does sign with the Cubs, which has already been rumored, then the Red Sox will likely widen their search. Cherington has already told MacKanin that he is no longer in the running for the job. He also said the Red Sox will not be interviewing any current managers.
