Cup of Joe [January 4, 2012]: Tom Bradley to Pitt?

Tom Bradley to Pittsburgh as a defensive coordinator? Not so fast.

Penn State’s interim head coach was mentioned as a leading candidate for the defensive coordinator job at Pittsburgh, and the outspoken Sports By Brooks through out the “multiple sources” backing up the original Pittsburgh Tribune story.

On the surface, the move would make sense for Bradley, who has strong ties in the Pittsburgh community and given his family background. Plus, you would expect that Bradley wil land as a defensive coordinator somewhere pretty decent. But since those rumors started turning up they were also tossed aside.

Our Bloguin pals over at Pitt Script sure do not seem to be as high on Bradley as many Penn State fans are. They back-up the idea that he is a solid defensive coach and well-respected, but they also go so far as to say Bradley is “linked to the biggest sports scandal in 30 years,” so clearly we need to work on some of the particular details.
