Once again the Cowboys were short-handed with several players out, but the team responded with Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott leading the way. The Cowboys offensive line set the tone and after each offensive series, you could see the offensive line forcing their will on the 49ers defense.
Quick look at the stat line:
- Ezekiel Elliott 23 carries for 138 yards and 1 TD
- Dak Prescott 23/32 for 245 yards and 2 TDs
- Sean Lee 10 tackles 9 were solo.
- Tyrone Crawford 1 sack
- Mo Claiborne 1 INT
The Cowboys had a slow start today going down early 0-14 and the defense looking a bit on their heels, but the Cowboys offensive line kept their protections and the opened up the running game for Zeke.
Here are my takes on the game:
- Chaz Green is getting better with each game. I wonder if they let him take the next game or more and let Tyron Smith fully heal. It was reported that Smith has a bulging disc, but non-herniated (yet).
- Rod Marinelli owns Chip Kelly
- Brice Butler get the boneheaded play of the game with the taunting call. It’s a stupid rule, but you know the refs are going to call it, so just don’t chance it.
- Mo Claiborne continues to play well, not just good, but well. More games like this and the extension talk will ramp up heading into the bye-week.
- Ezekiel Elliott is a playmaker. He looks the part and is backing it up.
- Despite the sack by Tyrone Crawford we need more pass rush. We can get away with this with a few teams, but we are still missing the hurries, pressures, and sacks.
- Demarcus Lawrence returns to action next week. Jason Garrett said he will be a full go.
- Alfred Morris signing was a nice pick up and he continues to contribute with nice runs and physical run style.
- Dan Bailey missed another FG, he missed one last week against the Bears…
- 42% 3rd down conversion rate today, not bad.
- Anthony Brown is holding his own in Scandrick’s place
- Maliek Collins and Terrell McClain are doing a nice job in run defense, held Carlos Hyde to 74 yards.
- This week’s convo will revolve about Dez’s 40 missed meetings. For me, it’s non-issue (for now)
