Professional boxing is back again in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, finally. Standing 8 Promotions, LLC is bringing “DFW Rising,” the first of four boxing events which will be a must see event for the professional boxing fan. Once again it will be at the new Arlington Convention Center in Arlington, TX. And what a great venue for boxing, set in an amphitheater style where you can’t get a bad seat.

The main event will be Dallas’ Jesse “the Dallas Kid” Lara (16-2,10KO’s) against Don Mouton (9-4-1,8KO’s) of Houston, Texas. Lara who has ten knockouts on his record, packs a big punch and is looking to continue in his winning ways against a tough loss back in June. Lara had a ten fight winning streak before his loss, so he will be hungry to start on another streak against the tough Mouton. Lara the southpaw is in for a battle on Saturday night because he will be going against Mouton, who will be looking for an upset win to get another win on his own record. Look for a super exciting main event in addition to a super co-main event.

The co-main event will be the exciting Maurice Hooker (4-0-1,3KO’s), one of the many boxers from the Maple Avenue Boxing Gym right here in Dallas, Texas. Look for a great fight as the tall and swift punching Hooker takes on Julian Rodriguez (19-21) from Juarez, Mexico. The last time I saw the welterweight Hooker, he not only predicted what punches he was going to land, but he got a knockout as well. Since then he has won three in a row, one by TKO and the other by knockout. Arnie Verbeek, owner and trainer at the Maple Avenue Boxing gym is very excited about this young welterweight and so is NTFC. Look for some exciting action as these two welterweights step into the ring for a scheduled six rounder.

Alex Lopez (4-3,1KO) of Fort Worth, Texas is set to take on Luis Zarazua (3-0-1,1KO ) from McAllen, Texas in a four round featherweight match. Lopez is a fighter who enters the ring with serious business on his mind at all times. He is coming into this fight with two unanimous decisions and back in November of 2011 he shocked the tough and savvy Arthur Trevino and won by knockout. This kid has knockout power and Zarazua will have his hands full when they meet on Saturday night.

Welterweight Alex Saucedo (4-0,3KO’s) from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, fighting out of the Maple Avenue Boxing gym, will be taking on Donald Ward (1-0) out of Memphis Tennessee. Saucedo will be looking to continue his winning streak as a young boxer and both fighters will be trying to keep their records undefeated.

In the cruiserweight division, John Shipman (1-0) of Dallas, Texas and also from the Maple Avenue Boxing Gym will be taking on Damien Derrigs (3-1, 3KO’s) of Dallas, Texas.

Jose Rodriguez (4-0,2KO’s) of Dallas, Texas will step into the ring against Wilbert Mitchell (1-4) from Lewisville. Rodriguez is entering the ring with an undefeated record and a knockout win in his last fight. Get ready to see fists flying in this scheduled Jr Welterweight bout.

Carlos Dixon will have his pro debut on Saturday night against IV Anderson Jr. in a four round middleweight fight, who will also be stepping into the ring in his pro debut.
