Daniel Bard: Man On A Warpath

For a pitcher that has only been around for a year and some change, Daniel Bard has been all over the map. He was highly touted after leaving UNC. In his pro debut he was extremely disappointing. In his first year of summer ball and the beginning of this season he has been completely dominant. So is Bard what we are seeing now or what we saw last season.
For all of his struggles last year, Bard had only two major issues. He was walking too many batters and striking out to few. While playing for Greenville, Bard was walking batters at a rate of 19.3% and striking out only 13.4%. For a frame of reference, Ryan Colvin is a pitcher drafted a year before Bard in the 30th round and played at Greenville last year. His walk rate was 10.9% and strike out rate was 23.6%. Colvin is nowhere near the prospect Bard is but he blew him out of the water last season.
While 19.3% is completely unacceptable, Bard has never been known for his command. Coming out of college the best scouts would say is he has
