For a long time during the regular season, the rumors were there that the New York Mets weren’t going to be bringing back Daniel Murphy and midway through an historic postseason run, team officials even confirmed it.
“He’s been great, really great,” one source said back in October, “but it changes nothing.”
Yet, when news leaked Thursday night that the All-Star second baseman inked a three-year deal worth $37.5 million with the Washington Nationals and would (officially) not be coming back to The Big Apple…Mets fans were not pleased.
