In January 2009, Jose Canseco hopped into the boxing ring to take on former “Partridge Family” star Danny Bonaduce. Since then, it’s pretty much been a thing left up to the blogosphere to discuss and dissect.
Until now.
The once-precocious red head showed up on “Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast!” to talk about (among plenty of other things) his boxing match against the former slugger.
“Do you know who Jose Canseco is? He’s like the biggest motherfucker in the world,” Bonaduce told Gottfried. “I’m lucky to be alive. When you look back at that stuff it seems kind of funny. I’ve been through a lot. I was in a high speed police chase once and I was more afraid boxing Jose Canseco.”
Now, I’m not really sure how the fight came about…Bondauce didn’t mention its origin and I’ve failed to find it online, but the mere fact that Bonaduce was still standing after three one-minute rounds was, really, a victory in itself considering the size differential. According to Bonaduce, Canseco is about a foot taller and close to one hundred pounds heavier.
So, yeah…battling to a draw was an accomplish.
That high speed chase Bonaduce referred to? That’s a far better story.
