Dare to Dream

Everyone loves the underdog, and I’m no different (probably due to the fact that I got cut from more teams than I made).  Plus it is refreshing for writers to pen tales of players who have had to come up the hard way, rather than the LeBrons and Kobes of the world who seemed to be always ordained for greatness.  That is why the story of Sundiata Gaines is getting so much publicity in the media and love from the fans.  Who is Sundiata Gaines, you ask?  Most of the basketball world would have asked the same question before last night.  Gaines was toiling with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League when the Utah Jazz came calling on January 5th.

So an overjoyed Gaines would get a chance to finally live out his dream and play in the NBA.  A nice, heartwarming story but not all that unusual.  However, the story doesn’t end there.  This is where seemingly Hollywood got a hold of the Sundiata Gaines story.  Last night, playing against the aforementioned LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Gaines did this:

The moral of the story.  Dare to dream.  If there is something you want to do with your life, go for it.  Work hard and hope Lady Luck smiles on you a little bit.  That is, unless what you dream of doing is something you really aren’t good at, in which case stop wasting your time dummy!  Put down that guitar and move out of your mom’s basement already.
