darlin only the good die young

I have this song stuck in my head for some reason and to me it means that the Coyotes will live a very long life because we have not been very good lately.

A lot has went down since I last wrote. My new years resolution should be to get back into the swing of writing on a regular basis. If I can get into a good routine with school/work/hockey I can really do some damage.

Let’s start with the good…
The Coyotes are well on their way to having a real owner. Hulsizer’s lease agreement with Glendale passed and it seems that the Board of Govenors will let him join their ranks. I hope we have this wrapped up by the end of this month but it seems doubtful. At least we are on the right path. I really like the way Hulsizer speaks of the team and the purchase of them. He is in it for the love of hockey, not as an investment and he has the business sense to know how to run it.

Now for the bad. And there seems to be a lot of it. I guess the Hockey Gods had to give us horrible events after the approval of the lease agreement. We Coyote fans apparently do not get to be happy campers. Oi.

The East coast road trip started off with a bad loss to the Devils. After the good news on the ownership situation you would have thought the boys would have been flying high adn ready to kick ass. Not so much. They were flat and it appeared they could not be bothered to show up.

And then the next thing you know… Bryz has the flu. Then he has an upper body injury and is on the first flight back to Phoenix. LaBarbera. This cannot end well..

The good news is, cute lil Tom Fenton got to ride the pine during an NHL game all decked out in goalie gear. The bad news is, he saw the Coyotes up and then fail miserable. Night he will never forget.

LaBarbera had a couple of blonde moments (hey, I can say that.. I’m blonde). At one point he decided to gegtt out of his safe lil crease and play the puck. Hello, NYR goal. Then he decided to do a poke check way to early in the shoot out, which lead to a goal (all the forward had to do was lift the puck). But you can’t totally blame LaBarbera for the mess that was this road trip. He has no help on D.

Dmen… I know scoring goals is fun and all but you know what is sexy? Dmen playing defense! Throw yourself in front of that puck, kick that guy out of Barbie’s crease. Now that is hot. Forwards shine by scoring, you can shine by defending. Sacrafice the body!

So after the NYR game, Climie is called up. I cannot wait to see him get a shot. He has some potential and I may like him better than Al. OMG, did I just say that? Yes, yes I did.

Next up, the NYI. That we take to a shoot out. That should have never went that far. I am kinda foggy on these details. I was baking pizzas and helping host a housewarming party during most of this game. Turris did a cute shootout move. It wasn’t Omark style or anything, just bounced it off his skate blade but it worked. So we got a win. Against the Islanders. IN a shootout. That’s something to be proud of boys /sarcasm

Lastly there is the Penguins. OMG. Thankfully I did not see all of this game. Listening to the 1st and 3rd on the radiom the game didn’t seem so bad. Watching the 2nd? I thought I was going to have to stab my eyes out with plastic sporks. Yes, it was that bad. The Pens were up 5-0 in the second. Then LaBarbera was out and Climie was in. Climie allowed one goal but other than that, he looked pretty sharp for the half a period I saw him.

Bryz may be back on 12/26. Thank god. We miss him. But I will miss Climie too. Maybe we can send LaBarbera to the A and keep Climie up here…

Pyatt out 1-2 weeks with upper body injury. Boedker recalled. Let’s hope he can infuse some energy into this team.

And lastly. My poor Pru. But he is tearing up the AHL. I believe he is at a PPG. Keep it up Pru! We love you and hope for your safe return. Or your duct tape return…. Oh wait, I wasn’t supposed to talk about that.

Tonight the Coyotes are in San Jose. C’mon boys, get me a win for Christmas! Is that too much to ask? I am going ot try to venture out to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch it at 9:30.
