After his 65-yard punt return for a touchdown on Monday night football, Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles was named NFC special teams player of the week by the NFL.

This season alone, Sproles has two punt returns for touchdowns, 392 punt return yards and is averaging 17.0-yards per punt return. With these kinds of numbers, Sproles should make the Pro Bowl this season. Only twice in his career has Sproles averaged 10.0 yards plus per return in 2011 with the New Orleans Saints and in 2008 with the San Diego Chargers.

In 2011, with the Saints, he had a punt return for a touchdown, 294 punt return yards, and averaged 10.1-yards per return. Finally in 2008 with the Chargers, he had 249 punt return yards and averaged 11.3-yards per return.

Sproles will be an integral part of the Eagles’ offense and special teams for the rest of season especially if they want to win the NFC East crown for a second consecutive year.
