Data Mining with Phil B

Wilson does a nice job today with preseason stats.

* RBs Joseph Addai and Donald Brown have played sparingly, but they have put up encouraging numbers on what few carries they have had. Addai has 24 yards on four carries, a 6-yard average, while Brown has 63 yards on eight carries, or 7.9 per carry (again, rounded up). As a team, the Colts have rushed 43 times for 135 yards, a 3.1 average. Take away two quarterback rushes for minus seven yards and that average improves to 3.5 yards. Just preseason, but I tend to think the top two backs’ numbers indicate this team will be able to run the football more effectively this season. They have to be better than 31st a year ago, don’t they?
