The Oakland Raiders announced the date for the Raider Nation Celebration late yesterday. The event will be held Saturday, August 8th from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Oakland – Alameda County Coliseum in Oakland.
Last year, the RNC came in the midst of rumors of a rift between Lane Kiffin and Al Davis, putting a little bit of a damper on the day’s events. We all now know that there was some truth to those rumors.
This year, with Tom Cable at the helm, the team will be going into the season with possibly the least strife in the last decade. Last year, while at the RNC, I kept noticing this guy running around checking equipment with a pace that nobody else seemed to have. After a little zoom with my camera, I found that it was actually offensive line coach Cable.
Being a life-long fan, you can be sure that Cable will go out of his way to put on a show for the fans who attend the celebration. For those who haven’t gone before, it’s your chance to see the Raiders practice and interact with some of the players. They also have some of the legendary Raiders in attendance for autographs and allow you to take a photo of yourself with the Super Bowl trophies.
While the purpose for the Raiders is to sell tickets, they do a fine job of giving Raider Nation a good time with the team. For more details, go to the Raiders.com website.
