You could describe the Blues’ loss to the Dallas Stars in a lot of different ways. None of them are positive. Even the team’s lone goal from Patrik Berglund was more humerus (of course Berglund scores in a game that’s well out of reach) than anything.
David Backes summed up things nicely:
Backes: "They skated all night and we kind of watched." #stlblues

That’s extremely accurate. The Stars dictated the entire game and the Blues struggled to mark the Dallas forwards. The team’s defense repeatedly looked overwhelmed and it looked like no one really knew what they were doing.
You could easily put this loss out of mind and move on, but the troubling miscues on defense have become an all too familiar sight. It was just a regular season loss, but the Blues’ defensive play against stronger teams – especially Central opponents – leaves a lot to be desired.
