So…what do you get the guy who has just about everything?
Not this. It's kinda gross.
According to eBay, the shorn beard of Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz sold for $10,877.77. The bidding war for the package that included the World Series MVP's beard clippings, the razor that did the deed and the slugger's autograph concluded Saturday night and the margin between the auction winner and loser? Ten bucks.
“I’m smiling bro,” Ortiz told ESPN. “This is great. It has been a year to remember and I’m loving what we just did here. But what really matters most is raising money to fight cancer.”
By comparison, Shane Victorino's beard only went for just $3,750.69.
Proceeds from both auctions will go to the Movember charity. Movember raises awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.
