David Pastrnak Suspended For 2 Games After Illegal Check To The Head (Video)

After Wednesday night’s disappointing 5-to-2 loss to the Rangers, the Bruins were hit with the news that David Pastrnak will have a hearing with the league player safety committee about his high hit on Dan Girardi. the hearing has happened and the NHL has decided to put the hammer down on Pastrnak and suspended him for two games. Below is player safety decision video.

There are a few thing in this video that I found borderline. I personally don’t think this hit should be illegal definitely not suspendable for two games. Pastrnak has a clean record so it just does not make sense why they came down so hard on him for his first offense.

To me, it looks like Girardi hunched over slightly just before impact this making Pastrnak make initial contact higher up on Girardi than expected. The video also states that “he does not materially change position of his head” to me, it looks like that is exactly like what he did.

I do not agree with this decision it is a bing bang play and Girardi was not injured. For a first time offense, this seems a little harsh a fine or a slap on the wrist would have done the same thing in my opinion. I don’t think Pasternak is out there to check and hurt someone.

Pastrnak will now miss the next two games those being tomorrow night’s game in Detroit Vs. the Red Wings and next Tuesday’s game in Florida vs. the Panthers. He will make his return on November third when the Bruins take on the Lightning in Tampa.
