I am pretty sure all of this is not factual at all, but I am really fucking frustrated with the Bruins so you’re getting a rant. Enjoy it. Don’t enjoy. I don’t care.
Last night was probably my tipping point on the Boston Bruins. I don’t think I can emotionally invest any more time and energy into a team that doesn’t seem to give two shakes of a dog’s dick about playing hockey. This team is so up and down you’d think we were watching a Vine of a midget on a trampoline that Pete made and then was stolen by some shitty hockey twitter account.
But seriously, this hockey team looks dejected and disinterested. Last night was a pure abomination of a hockey game. When they needed each other the most, they failed. This isn’t just a fan sitting behind a keyboard key smashing his anger anymore. The players and the coach are starting to call one another out. It is becoming to 2011 Red Sox with frozen ice.
Claude Julien: “We’ve got a lot of commitment from a lot of guys, but at this point, you need it from everybody. And that’s what we’ve got to find”
This isn’t the first time that Claude has called the guys out either this year. Here’s what he said after a 5-3 loss to the Dallas Stars:
“The other thing, too, that I thought wasn’t very good for us tonight is our commitment in a lot of places, but we didn’t have enough guys going tonight…”
After a 5-2 loss to Vancouver:
“Some of those decisions that you make is basically your responsibility. You kind of wonder where some of those decisions, what’s behind the thought.”
And unfortunately there are more when he calls out his players, which is fine, that’s what he is supposed to do. The problem is that there seems to be an increased rate at which Claude puts blame on his squad through the media. I don’t really have a problem with it because players should be held accountable, but even the players are starting to question themselves.
“You look at other teams we’re battling and they’re going at it every single night. We don’t know if we’ll get that each night.” – Brad Marchand
I don’t know man. I just don’t know.
Look, I can accept a bad season. I was there for the 2005-2006 Boston Bruins, a team that was comprised of baby Patrice Bergeron, a month of Joe Thornton and a bunch of scrubs from HockeyTown. I’ve watched 13th in the Eastern Conference hockey more times than I care to remember. The thing about that this team is that they aren’t a bunch of no-talent sad sacks like that 05-06 team. There is some talent there, there is just no effort.
Last night on NESN Billy Jaffe and Dale Arnold where doing their usual Bruins grab ass during intermission and Jaffe said something to the effect of (and I’m paraphrasing here) Bruins fans are watching this team saying ‘I know there’s effort, there’s just not enough’. No William, we’re not saying that because we don’t see effort anymore. Games like the ones versus Ottawa, Tampa and Buffalo show us that this team doesn’t have the fight anymore.
These guys are happy being passengers on the Patrice Bergeron express chugging down the rails from station to station. Most of them are fat and happy with term and no movement/trade clauses.
Hey Pete, how’s Reilly Smith look?
That said, they’ll make the playoffs and…
I fucking hate this team.
