It’s supposed to be “Sunday Funday” at the ball park, but if you were putting on a Brewers uniform Brandon Beachy had his own meaning to that term as he completely baffled the Milwaukee bats in route to a 7-4 win over Milwaukee. The loss meant the Brewers were swept for the first time this year and ensured they will have to wait another year before they can get a victory at Turner Field.
That’s something they haven’t done since July 17, 2010 to be exact and it can’t happen anytime this year since the Braves and Brewers only meet again at Miller Park this year.
The loss also marked it’s 4th straight, going just 3-4 on their roadtrip to Chicago and Atlanta.

Thoughts:
— The defecit was largely the result of a start Chris Narveson would probably like to forget. When Narveson is on, he is able to mix his pitches and locations enough to keep hitters off-balance, resulting in a lot of groundouts and lazy fly balls. Today, that didn’t happen. The Braves weren’t fooled by much of anything Narveson had to offer today, and were able to tee off with relative ease. When a pitcher already prone to giving up homers suddenly has to deal with a flurry of baserunners… you get a day like today from Narveson.
(Ed. Note: The joke here is that Andy copied a section of my post from Friday word for word, because everything said about Randy Wolf then applied to Narveson today. — NP)
O.k., enough of the funny stuff, but seriously, how true of a statement it was because it sure felt like Narveson looked like Wolf out there today, giving up long shots and not finding the strikezone at all.
If it weren’t for another late inning attempted rally the final score would’ve been really ugly. Ryan Braun led off the 9th with a double and after two outs behind him Corey Hart hit a double to knock in Bruan. Lucroy followed up Hart’s double with his second home run of the day and thus the final score looked a bit more respectable.
But honestly, is there really anything such as a “Moral Victory” when you get swept on the road? I don’t think so. Especially when your hitting and ptiching both couldn’t pick you up when you needed them to the most.
