With the Sacramento Kings winning, big man DeMarcus Cousins is finally getting the recognition he deserves. After averaging 25.7 points, 16.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 blocks per game over the Kings’ last three contests, Cousins has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week.
This is the second time Cousins has won the award, the first coming Jan. 13, 2014. Cousins has rattled off six straight double-doubles, including a 31-point, 18-rebound performance against the Timberwolves on Saturday night.
Cousins’ 12.3 rebounds per game leads the NBA. The 24-year-old center is also averaging 23.2 points on 51.9 percent shooting, while handing out 1.9 assists and 1.5 blocks a night. His 10 double-doubles are second in the league, while he has Sacramento off to an 8-5 record despite a brutal early season schedule.
The Kings travel to New Orleans to take on Anthony Davis and the Pelicans on Tuesday night. They come back the next night to face off against Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets, before finishing their road trip in San Antonio against the Spurs on Friday.
