It’s been a few days since the Kings made their second to last trade of the season with the Brooklyn Nets. After Saturday night’s game against the Boston Celtics, DeMarcus Cousins was asked about departure of former teammate Marcus Thornton to the Nets. He offered the following perspective.
It’s tough. I’ve been with Marcus my whole career. Marcus is like a brother to me. It’s tough, but we all know it’s kind of the nature of the business. We’ll still remain friends and I wish him nothing but the best.
Thornton joined Cousins’ midway through his rookie season after the Kings sent Carl Landry to the New Orleans Hornets for the 26-year-old shooting guard.
On Saturday, the Kings also announced that they would not be receiving the services of one of the players acquired in the deal for Thornton. Rather than join the Kings, Jason Terry has decided to spend the remainder of the season rehabbing his surgically repaired left knee in Dallas.
Starting point guard Isaiah Thomas has had a close relationship with Terry dating back to their days in the Pacific Northwest. The 25-year-old point guard touched base with Terry after finding out he wasn’t joining the team.
Yeah, I talked to him. He’s gonna be rehabbing. His knee hasn’t been well this whole season and you could just tell how he played in Brooklyn. But I wish we could’ve played together this year, just to say we did it. But at the same time, he’s gotta do what’s best for him and I can’t control that.
